Could anyone tell me if a styrene cutting board, (The white plastic kind) would make a good bottom for a bare bottom tank. I would think since it is used for food preparation it would not leach any chemicals into the water. I could get enough to cover the bottom of a 125 gal for about $50.00. Any altrernative suggestions welcomed.

are you wanting to change the color of the bottom of the tank or is it just because ?

I don't like putting heavy rocks on a glass bottom,so I thought the styrene might make a nice cushion and keep the rocks from moving.

I would recommend eggcrate (light diffusers) also made of polystyrene, I've also heard of people using white t-shirts for the bottom

Drock159 eggcrate would defeat the purpose of Bare Bottom with all the crevices to catch detritus. Feederfish that website answered my original question, Thanks.
