stinky water?

ok i have a 32g rubbermaid ive been using for ro water for almost 2 years. every so often i take it outside and clean/beach
on its second filling i dumped in io salt,mag5 pump and airstone.
the next day the water had a certain funk to it.i hesitated but
then thought id do a 10%wc on a 29g i recently started up
theres a frag of xenia and some mushrooms in there the mushrooms shrunk alittle and the xenia keep changing water
could some type of bacteria grew in water? has anyone had
this happen?the ro water comming out smells fine.

I dont think you need an air stone,just the mag5 will work. Adittion of air can lower the makup water ph;)

Hard to say what happened. I don't think the airstone could cause a problem. The Mag5 would be doing a lot of gas exchange by itself, though, so the airstone likely is not needed.

Something might have gotten into the tub. I'd probably ditch the batch, personally, and then clean the tub thoroughly. Is the tub being treated with a dechlorinator?
