there are quite a few different watermelon variations. My tyree seems to be a slow grower but this one is a good growerhttp://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/162269IMG_0134.JPG

all my chalices are doing fine on the bottom of a 24 inch deep tank with a 150w and two 90w actinics but some keep them in higher light

Mine dont like bright lite, and even seem better with partial light.

This is my tyree that I got from viper, I would agree that the lower lighting is better as this one never did very well under my 14k pheonix, but when moved to a lower position the colors really started to develop

I agree on the lower lighting. My Tyree actually seems to grow at a pretty good rate, but it's been purple for about two months with the green rim just starting to show. I'm hoping the pink starts to show itself pretty quickly.

Here is a **** poor picture of my Jimmys Orange Sherbert. It actually seems to grow better vertically almost out of the light completely. The bubble algae seems to grow good in any lighting though.

I agree that chalices in general grow better when mounted vertically

med to low lighting plus low flow as well is good for a chalice.
