I have the 4" x 6" slab of frozen mysis that I break off a chunk to feed. I've been thawing and then rinsing - stuff that I rinse away looks really dirty, but am I rinsing away the nutrients?

I had been doing the same thing with the frozen mysis cubes.

i always rinse that juice off. It just adds nutrients to the water. Which causes all kinds of problems.:eek1:

It is a good idea to rinse and thaw all frozen foods, as the phosphate levels in them are high.

I thaw it is a little sauce dish of tap water. Then I drain it in a net and feed it.

But don't you get corals to open up more when you add "the juice" to the tank?

Specially things like sun corals.

Should you actually rinse them though? Aren't some mysis soaked/frozen in special juices sometimes for added nutrients & vitamins?
