I need help. Ever since I added coral and the supplements that go along with it, I have had a problem with green algae. Is there anything that I can do to control it? Please help. I have a 36gal with pc lighting.
Thanks,
Wayne

What do you use for top off water? Water for salt mix?

Phosphates can get past an R/O unit ( I found that out the hard way ). On a 36 gallon tank, either a phospate absorbing media and / or a DI unit will bring the phosphates down enough to starve out the algae.

Most commercial frozen foods and flakes contain some phosphates. If you go with a DI unit, you could still run media to catch the phosphates from the food.

Stop all the supplement additions completely until you get this under control, do a larger water change and shut the lights off for three whole days this should give you a chance to get ahold of the situation. Look into a UV sterilizer, and increase the tanks circulation-good luck!

Ok you added coral but i would like to know what the suppliments you think it needs.
What coral ?
How old is the tank?
What are your water readings ?

I added iodine and liquid reactor, thats what the lfs suggested. I have xenia, a kenya tree, and a frag of hamnmer. They told me to add both of these once a week.
