View Full Version : How cold can live rock get before die off?

I have a batch of live rock sitting in the corner inside my apartment. It current temp is 69 F. I am wondering if this is to cold for the coralline algae? Will this temp inhibit growth of coralline algae?

Also, I was fighting a small breakout of bubble algae. Will the cold temps kill/inhibit its growth?

Thanks Much,

I just came back from a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in CA. They have some amazing cold water deep reef exhibits there. The aquascape seem to be covered with pink and purple corraline algae so I don't think 69f is gonna kill it but if temp is too cold it might affect the micro organisms within the rock? How cold is too cold? I don't know but hopefully someone out there might have an answer?
