I searched, but didn't really come up with an answer. What is a good HOB skimmer for and AP24 that will be SPS dominated? I have looked at the remora and it seems like a good skimmer but what is everyone else using?

Are you using the regular remora or the remora nano? If you are using the regular one, the standard or pro? Thanks for the reply

If its going to be SPS dominate. You may want to look into a quality skimmer like the Deltec MCE300/600

MCE300 would suit your tank size best

MCE600 may be overkill but some would think otherwise :)

S3al, do you run one of those deltec's? Are they noisy? I definitely want to over-skim if anything because I want to keep a clam and mostly SPS, so I am sure the Deltec is the way to go

Yep, I have had two of the Deltec MCE600's. I had one on a 100g tank a while back and did a great job. Now I have one on my 58g and does a amazing job. A couple ppl have had problems with a vibrating pump but the other 80-90% of ppl have very quiet pumps. I have mine 5 feet from my bed and theres no sound problem at all. Some ppl will try and tell you that they can overflow but all that was is user error. There is no way for this skimmer to overflow if its setup properly.

The MCE300 would do a great job and the MCE600 would def "overskim" (if theres such a thing) your tank. Going with the MCE600 would also allow you to upgrade to a bigger tank in the future and not have to upgrade your skimmer.

Where else can you find deltec skimmers except from their site directly? I tried drsfostersmith, reefgeek, and marinedepot as well as ebay and got nothing. I am trying to find the best deal but I can't find them anywhere else

Deltec USA is really the best and basically the only place you can make orders for Deltec products. Some fish stores may carry one but thats very rare. Even then, they get them through Deltec USA. They have to be imported. You can call 1-877-DELTEC1 and ask for doug if your interested in ordering a new one.

Your other choice is to just check the for sale forums and look for a used one. Used they go for around 350-400. You really have to check all the time though cuz when they get posted for sale, they are usually get sold within 24 hours.

I was looking at that last night, but it is a little more than I can talk my wife into. :-)

I have the deltec mce300 and by far one of the best purchases I've made for my tank. It is very quiet (the remora is not). Deltecs blow away any other HOB skimmers.

Well I convinced my wife to let me buy the MCE600, and I am just waiting to see if I got it or not. I figure it will need some modification to work on my aquapod, but I like a challenge :)

Keep us updated, I want to see how big this monster is, as I have an AP HQI 24 as well.
