So for the past few weeks I have what I first thought was just some red stringy type algae growing out of the sand in one spot. Today, my hermit decided to hang out there and I got a new camera so I was taking some close ups and realized that these things may be alive!

Here is a picture, and also a video so you can see that they are moving around. At first I thought they were just moving with the current, but now think that they may be alive.

What the heck are they?

Ok, so I was searching around Nano-Reef.com and saw someone else said that spaghetti worms can come in red or green. Are these spaghetti worms? Are they harmless?

Those are the gills and possibly also the feeding tentacles of cirratulid polychaete worms (called spagetti worms by reefers). They're both harmless & beneficial as they're detritus eaters who help keep tanks clean.
