Let me know what you think of it Fragmented. There are a few bulbs i wanna try. I love the Radium and dont think i will like any bulb better. plus it has great par.

But Aquaconnect and Helio are the 2 i wanna try someday.

Well then the $115 price tag is easier to swallow if you are getting that much life out of them.

I'm just afraid it might be too white for my taste. I like a little blue like the Radium

The Aquaconnect has more blue and actinic than the Radium actually. Dont let the '14,000K' thing fool you. If I had wanted to suggest a 'whiter' bulb, it would have been the BLV/Ushio nepturion 14,000K... perhaps the brightest 400watter on the market. The Radium isnt even rated for 400 watt ballasts... its spec calls for 360 watts. Here is a comparison on the suggested ballasts...

Combine that with the ultra-short life span of the Radium due to its being overdriven... and its a no-brainer.

twon8, thats pretty impressive... 18 months. How do you think they are compared to new? I mean, I know HQI's last about twice as long... but sometimes the bluer bulbs dont fair as well as the 10,000Kish ones.

Hahn,

What about the color on the Aquaconnect for 250watts. Thats what i run?

i put in a nearly new reeflux 12k and the aq14 was noticeably brighter and i put it back in.

my setup doesn't allow for a great comparison, as im running one coralvue ballast and one icecap. I also have different reflectors at different heights. the right side(icecap) is closer to the water, parallel to the tank and with a closed end reflector looks brighter
