View Full Version : Can you grow a mangrove in a pot ?

Im thinking of adding a sump to my tank. Well not a real sump just a 20 gal. Its not going to baffled so i cant put sand in the sump.So can you grow then in a pot with sand

yes.

they have very strong roots, so might crack the pot down the road, other then that, no problems.

I have seen people growing mangrove in a pod like any other plant

Here's a pic of the two mangroves I had in my freshwater tank. They don't grow that fast and the roots won't get that big so fast. I collected the "seeds" at the beach in the Dominican Republic.
