If you can catch him and isolate him. You can use hypo salinity or even rid ich. But, if you can't catch him and if he is still eating and acting pretty normal... try soaking his food in Garlic Extreme. I believe that keeping his immune system up will help him fight it. Lots of flow will help too.

I feed exrta during times of ich. I usually try to feed 3 times daily and a sheet of nori for tangs. Skim heavy and light your fuge 24-7 to help with the extra feedings. If he's malnourished he'll never fight it.

I have friend that just lost one of those fishes, he tried hypo and lost the fish 3 days later. I think he got ripped off too, paid way to much money for him. Any ways I think he lowered the salt level too quick. I would say hypo is a good solution but be careful not to lower the salinity too quick.

NO don't try the meds they sell, you will waste your money. If your thread asked what type of medication people had good experience with many will tell you that they have not had a good experience with most of what they have tried. Exept for Copper Treatments, and hyposalinity.Go HYPO . I would also try to understand the lifecycle of ich, you can find a good article on about .com

okay so if I'm at 1.023 in my tank withs holds around 215 gallons of water (incl. ref) how much water should I take out and replace to achieve 1.009?

Do you have any corals or other inverts in the tank? If so, you might want to consider setting up a QT tank to do the hypo in, inverts don't handle hypo very well. You'll want to change the sg no more than .001 a day until you get down to 1.009, and leave it at that for 4-6 weeks to allow for the ich lifecycle. Then raise it back up to your tank's salinity, again no more than .001 a day until it's there.

You can lower your sg to 1.009 in 24 hrs safely. You just can't raise it quickly.

You can safely drop your salinity down to 1.009 in a day or two if you like, just not all at once. Spread it out. Bring it back up slowly though. .001 a day would take you a week and a half or so.

Hypo is much much easier and safer to do.
