I purchased 2 6045s a few months ago and hooked them up to a reef fanatic wave creator. I noticed after a day the tunzes weren't kicking on when they were supposed to so I took them off of the wave creator and let them run normally. Then I noticed they would only run for about 15-30 min and shut off. I took them out and put my old maxi jets back in so I would have some movement. The tunzes sat in my closet since. Today I took them out to test them again and 1 will not come on at all, the other seems to working fine now. I also boke the clip on 1 of them(my fault). Can I please get some on the bad one? Thanks...

these were not built to run on a wavemaker like that.

I know putting them on a wavemaker will shorten their lives, but I sure thought they would last more than 1 day. I had it set so they would stay on 30 min. at a time.

and how long were they off for before restarting?

Have you taken them apart and looked at the impeller? Also is the shaft loose?

They were on for 30 min. then off for 30 min., but like I said that only happened for a day. After that I just let them run. I know several people that run these in the same manner.

I took the malfunctioning one apart today and to my untrained eye it looks fine, but I really don't know what I'm looking for.

Is the steel shaft firmly inplace in the motor block when you remove the impeller? also if it is is it broken by chance?

abmorris, why don't you send them to me and I will get them all fixed up. They should run fine in the way you had them set up. As long as you don't turn them off and on more than once every 15 minutes it should be OK.
