I keep reading about the Tunze 6200/6201 screen mods but nothing has been concrete on its durability and performance. Taking out every other tooth in the intake screen would supposedly double the flow. Can someone confirm this? I have seen a picture somewhere, but it was in the for sale forum. Can some of you share your experience on this. I also know you can change out the 6101 screen to a 6201 screen for broader flow. Thank you!

I swapped out my 6100 screens for 6200s, I like the wide flow better (as does the tank). The flow is more like a 'wall' of water now. Considering my tank is 48"x30", its more suited to the tank. The 6100s normally put out such a beam that you just end up hitting the glass at the other end of the tank otherwise.
If it was a 6' tank, I might think differently.

Thanks Hahn's. Looking at their details on the Tunze website, the dimensions are identical on the 6101, 6201 and 6301. The only difference is the shroud/screen size & design. Would it be safe to say that I can place a 6301 screen on any of these models? It reminds me of the Vortech except the vortech is more slim in design and also more open which allows for more flow suction and output in the way the screen is designed.

I did the same thing. I like it better on the 6' 180G. The flow is gentler right out of the pump, and wider. No problem with flow end to end. On a 6' tank with a single pump, I dont think I'd do it. The 6300 has the larger opening like the 6200 screen. Maybe the wider intake slots would produce some more flow. Not sure on that one.

They have also removed the cross-brace on the output. Tunze warns that this is not for most private tanks, but rather geared more towards large installations with large fish.

My small fish (Blenny) like to venture to the forbidden outlet when in feed mode. The pulse that the Tunze puts out in this mode (great feature) keeps them from hanging around too long. I'd be a little more concerned without the brace. I think the 6200 grill makes a nice difference and would stick with that.
