uhhh. You can get this stuff at any home improvement center.
Lowes, Home Depot, Osh, Ace, etc...
It's electrical pipe and fittings, beware that electrical pipe (Gray) is not rated to be water proof (Tight)

I would not recommend conduit for plumbing. Go with SCH 80 if you must have gray. What about black PVC pipe and fittings?

us plastics has grey sch 40 pvc. I just ordered a bunch from them for some CA reactor and Sulphur Dinitrators.

Thanks for the links --- Black could be a good option--- I think us plastics had the pipe but no grey fittings but I'll check again.

US plastics has just about any gray fitting you could possibly want.

I don't see a problem using conduit... it is the same stuff just color coded and has UV inhibitors in it. It is not "approvevd" for plumbing, but it glues up nice and water tight, just like any other PVC. Somebody may have info showing that the PVC conduit can leach nasties or something, but I have never seen any data to support that.

Don't some folks use the electrical conduit fittings to make DIY bulkheads?

I haven't heard any reports about them not being reef safe.

Do you want grey for the inside of the tank?

I have been using PVC electrical conduit sweeps on all my tanks for years. I have never run into any problems. I makes a big difference on lowering head pressure on my pumps compared to 90s and makes my drains a lot quieter.

If you are looking for black PVC, Savko carries it along with black fittings.

Funny thing Bean... I was just doing some plumbing a few days ago and grabbed what I thought were a couple 1/2" Sch 40 fittings, but for the life of me I couldn't get them to fit the end of my pipe. When I took a good look at them I realized they were electrical conduit fittings. I assumed they would be the same size, but my eyes were telling me they were just a smidge smaller. Not sure what the deal was.

Hrmm

I have a box full of conduit connectors. I have never tried to mix and match them... I suppose I should give it a try!

I've mixed and matched white/grey sched 40/80 no problem. The OD is the same. The ID is not. The different ID can case problems if the fitting goes inside like a street L.

That is what I always thought.. (PVC PIPE and PVC CONDUIT) were both the same socket sizes... I just never took the time to actually check.

Now that I think about it back when I was doing my electrical on my tank I mixed in some sch 40 plumbing sockets with electrical flex conduit and I remember it being a sloppy fit. I didn't figure it to be a big problem as it didn't really need it to be 100% water tight so I just glued it up and moved on. I guess there might be a slight diameter differential after all.
