I have the bulkheads that come with the AllGlass megaflow, they're the barb type, I guess these are for flexible tubing.

I intended on using regular stiff PVC from the bulkheads.....How would I connect stiff PVC to these barb fittings. Do I get a short length of tubing from the barb ends then attach to PVC pipe and just use a hose clamp?

I assume you wouldn't use the PVC glue with the flexible stuff?

I'd like to use mostly stiff PVC..., will I need to get different bulkheads that I can attach to the PVC direclty?

thanks

Yes, I have some of the same type of setup. Just use short pieces of flexible tubing and clamps.

Just use plastic clamps as the metal ones will rust over time.

Replace the bulkheads with "slip" type bulkheads that are specifically for joining with PVC. I just did this recently with an AllGlass tank and it make a neat installation that way.

I have an allglass tank too that came with barb fittings. I would say that removing and replacing them is easy and clean for a new install. The most expensive part is the new bulkheads. definately check online for them though. LFS will most likely sell them for some crazy high price.

You could also take a small piece of PVC pipe put that into the back of the bulkhead, then use a PVC elbow. Then your not using the barb fitting at all. I have some Clear PVC pipe and an elbow that I was gonna use but I decided to use soft plumbing instead. its just easier to work with IMHO. My tank has a 360 degree view tho.
