I am still in the planning stage for a 400 gal tank, 84 inch length, 36 inch width and 30 inch depth. I plan anemones and sps, no clams.

My current 265 gal tank has 400 watt metal halides.

I plan to build a lighting fixture for the new tank and retrofit it with T5's only.

What number and configuration of bulbs do you recommend, and which brands/vendors?

Thanks

I would probably go with 5x400w mh's with lemarc III's. You'll save alot of cash in equipment this way. The only t5's i'd maybe suggest would be to stager 12 60" ers. And overdrive them with IC660's. It would be very costly though. I don't think cash is a problem though if your planning a 400g tank. That would give you 1200w of t5! WOW
