Hey. Tomorrow Im changing my 75 gal. tank from crushed coral to a sand substrate and adding a few fully cured live rocks for a new look to the tank. I have these star polyps on a rock and theyre not doing so well. Is there any way of detaching them from the rock because then I can use the rock as a base rock and put other rocks on top of it if there were no star polyps on the rock.

they look healthy, if you want just take a razor blade to them out of (or in) the tank. Cut along one side and then just peel them off, they should peel off like a carpet. Also, those things are damn near indestructible, if you stack rocks on top of them then they will find a way to grow out of there. Just be careful, there are more than a few people on that have tanks plagued by green star polyps. I wouldn't keep them myself unless they were isolated on their own rock in the middle of my sand bed!

They look fine, it just looks like they are encrusting over themselves, nothing to be worried about.

is there a supplement that can help them out like trace elements or any type of thing like that?

Do you feed them ?
What are the water readings?
Are you adding base sand?
Good time to figure out what is causeing the problem so it doesnt return. Besides the better the tank conditions the easier the transition.
