I've had several tanks with them and I like them. I think the biggest drawback people have with them is their looks and how much space it takes up inside the tank. Other then that, I think everyone thinks they are good.

why would you drop 279 dollars on that when you can buy a 30 gallon tank for 60 bux and 3 baffles for about 20 bux from your local glass shop / lowes or homedepot a tube of silocone for 4 dollars and only spend 84 dollars

This has nothing to do with SUMP or FUGE this question is about Mega Flow please stay on topic..

I like my mega-flow. The options are Mega flow, Drill and DIY overflow, or a HOB overflow. I don't trust my DIY skills to hold back all the water we would be talkin. So yea on the Mega flow.

I have a DIY 75 gallon now but found a sweet deal on a AGA 125 with 2 megaflows/Stand only 6 months old for 350.00. I guess they have dorso tubes in the megaflows ??

I have been looking at this guys store on Ebay for refugiums. This one is pretty cheap and for per cut baffles. http://cgi.ebay.com/PRO-Refugium-kit-for-glass-aquarium-wet-dry-filter-sump_W0QQitemZ300174374784QQihZ020QQcategoryZ3212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And a CPR refugium look alike for 1/4 of the price... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300153949281&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=300174374784&itemcount=12&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&usedrule2=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget

I have them on my 180 and really like them. They are quiet and fairly discrete.

there great...no problems just get them, the durso mod was the older style setup that had the water drop to the bottom of the over flow and made it sound like a waterfall so the durso just raised the water level to a few inches below the water line, it can be tricky getting the right amount of air to keep it from "flushing" but there are tons of threads about that. the new megaflows and use the durso design. they really are bullet proof and never heard anyone say anything bad about them. when something works good no one ever complains. if it was bad there would be a ton of threads about. just look up hang on over flows and see how many bad threads there are about them

the one I bought today is only 5 months old. Any advice on how to set the dorso's up ? It has a Mag 12 pump with dual over flows

I assume you have dual overflows(?). That Mag 12 will run you at full tilt. You will need a fairly large sump or socks to stop micro bubbles. I had a Mag 12 with a 40 sump under my 120 with half the sump as a fuge. I should have used the whole 40 for a sump. I tee'd off the return right back to the return section of my sump to cut down on bubbles.
Your Mag 12 calls for 1 1/2 inch return plumbing.

I have other pumps what size do you think would be best ? I have a 40 gallon sump and yes dual overflows. the mag 12 i have has a 1/2 return fitting

I'm running a mag9 on my 180 with a 65g sump/refuge. Whisper quiet.

I've always found the AGA overflow teeth to be too close together- it does not effectively skim, especially when there is even just a little algae. I cut the teeth out of mine and replaced them with gutter guard- it skims the surface ALOT better. There was no noticeable increase in noise either.

I have a mag 9.5 i could use if you think that will do a better job...

On Melevsreef he recomends 3 - 5 times your water volume going through the sump per hour. Some people run larger pumps to create more flow, but it takes away from the effectiveness of the sump. Also by not maxing out your overflows you will have less noise.

I would use the 9.5 and have a close loop or other circulation. Test your Mag 12 to see if it leaks. It would be great for a close loop. Mine leaked as they often do.

Hi James.
I want to cut some of the teeth out of mine as well. What is the gutter guard and where do you get it?

I like my AGA and have had zero problems with it. Other than the issue mentioned above. But that is a small issue.

Pat
