It's been just over a year now and I have finally stopped touching my tank. I think it is where I want it; now it's time to sit back, feed and watch the corals grow.
It really began as a experiment, setting up a tank with little knowledge but this forum, my father and friends help to build my interest and knowledge. I placed about 10 gallons of sand from the beach down here in the melbourne area, then placed around a half a bag of florida crushed coral on top of that then covered the front half with a very fine aragonite. I used mainly base rock and some sutff I picked up along the way for the rocks. I think I redid the rock work 4 times until I somewhat got it the way it is now. A friend on mine helped me to seed the tank with the pink coral line algae which has taken over nicely. as far as what is stocked here is a list:
Blue ridge coral
plate coral
Turbinaria coral
Torch Coral
Frogspawn Coral
Purple Ribbon Gorgonia
Purple Brush Gorgonia
star polyps
Red bullseye mushroom
Pulsating xenia
maidens hair macroalgae (eaten by my emerald crabs)
? some type of coral- it's brown fragile with polyps on it and when grows looks like moose antlers
-new-
pink montipora
jessie jackson
green slimmer
blue tip

-Fish-
(1)Yellow tank
(2) domino damsels
(1)blue damsel
(1)3 strip damsel
(1)sand sifting gobies
(1)Flame angel
(2) pepermint shrimp
(1)red serpant starfish
(1) fake occillaris clown

Here are some pictures to share since we all like pics.

The small 8w comes on at 8am then the PC come on at 9am, Flood lights come on from 12-4, then the PC go off at 8pm and 8w go off at 9pm. I then have led blue mon lights that go on from 9pm-4am.

Pics with the 8w lights, on the right decided to not work so I just have one at the moment,

My parameters at this point.
PH 8.1
temp 80F
alk 2.5
calcium 480
NH1 0
NO2 0
NO3 30

Well tell me what you all think? I am just addicted to reefs now and am in the process of rebuilding my 220 into a reef but that will take some time since I want to try a few things different.

Thanks, Yes the plate coral does have some sand on it and it was covered at once but it is plling itself out. I did have a piece of coral fall on it from my sea urchin at one time and it has not been the same. Very fragile I guess.

A colt? well it seems to be growing very nice. Thanks.
