i'm looking for a good protein skimmer for my 24g nano cube, one that will fight in one of the tank's filter boxes since i need the lid to be able to close. i also need a good surface skimmer for my 29g, preferable something small. i've found some stuff online but i just don't know what's good and what isn't. thanks so much for any suggestions and help.

I am not sure if the pump and return will fit in a nano cube, but the coralife superskimmer 65 is a good skimmer for the value and for your application. Keep in mind the effectiveness of a skimmer is largely dependent on the size of the reaction chamber, so stear clear of small "nano" skimmers: they are worthless.

well at my LFS, they have a 12g AP that has a a Seaclone 100 ( I know everyone hates them) and a phosban reactor on it and it is the most wonderful nano tank I have EVER seen. Its absolutely remarkable. So i would maybe recommend a seaclone for a nano tank even though they are disliked.
I have no expierence with them but i have seen great results.
IMO, I think really any skimmer (excpet for the cheap nano skimmers which fishguy stated above) will have a positive impact on a 24 gallon tank.
Good Luck
