hope i'm in right forum

i'm new here. i stumbled across this forum while searching for a local reef club. i have a 75 gallon glass aquarium currently setup with freshwater community fish. i would like to convert it to a reef tank in the future. i began searching for answeres on how to do this effectively. i don't know if my aquarium can be drilled or not so i'm looking for equipment options. i'm in largo, florida BTW. can someone help me with equipment selection? i would like to start buying what i need and when i finally have everything, i'll get started. i guess first off, am i in the right forum (west florida)?

Welcome to Reef Central shawnkfl, I would recommend surfing the internet to get more familiar with the methods and equipment used in reefkeeping. I have been buying most all of my equipment online for the past decade - use the Local Fish Store (LFS) for livestock.

Hi Shawn and Welcome!

I've been hanging out at RC for about a year now and I still consider myself a newbie! I have learned so very much just from this site alone, it's incredible. There are so many different categories here, you can probably get help with just about any questions you might have. If you have questions about equipment....there are forums for that. If you need help with certain types of fish or corals....there are places for that too! If you aren't sure where to post, put it in the newbie forum....it will either get an answer, or redirected to the right forum.

If you start reading the threads now...and spend 24/7 doing it...you still won't cover all the things you can learn here.

Lots of people willing to help and good information right here. However, if you are looking for local reef clubs, go to the "forums" button at the top of the page and click it. Way, way, down after many forums, you will see a link for Reef Club Forums. Use it to find a reef club forum near you.

Read a lot before you go out and buy stuff, then pick something (equipment you want) and see if you can research it a bit, then look in the Used Equipment & Drygoods Selling (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2) to see if you can find what your looking for.

If you want it new, check out the RC Sponsors (http://www.reefcentral.com/sponsors/) section to find what your looking for.

Most of all, ask questions!!!! It will save you $$$ in the long run.

If I may also chip in - If your unsure about what advice your LFS (local fish shop (it won't be in brackets forever)), come on, add a post and I'm sure you'll have a reply in the hour! Also, eBay is your friend! I get staff discount in my LFS because I help them out that much, but I still find eBay a better deal!
