I took the day off of work today and finally finished the plumbing of the 180 to the basement sump. Even though I am only running a very small flow through the 180, I'm still a little nervous.
I have instantly more than doubled the water volume of my system. The 180 is cycled and at the same SG, so I'm hoping that it doesn't cause any issues. :fingers crossed:

As long as there is nothing in the sump to add to the bioload of the tank I think you will be fine. I don't see where the added water volume will hurt you at all.

Nah, I'm sure you didn't kill your tank. Sounds like you turned it into a more stable system :D

So far everything seems fine. The only thing I worry about is a dramatic reduction in nutrients. When I added the basement sump two years ago, I noticed that with in days, all algae in the tank died off. While normally this is a good thing, I dont want to see a die off cause other issues.
