The ranco controllers are the best and I use them on my heaters and chillers. I dont think that one is meant for aquariums, you need a water proof temp probe on the end of the controller.

If you think that price is expensive, look @ the ones made for aquariums and they are double that price!!!:eek1:

I have four of these units and the sensor look's different, if this one works that is an awesome deal, I hope somebody will reply, that has used this type of ranco before.

The one shown in the link is a single stage controller. Their dual stage model is $99. That's still pretty cheap.

I agree it's pretty cheap. That's why I was wondering if it was the correct one cause I expected it to be more expensive. I have a feeling it's not prewired.

I just bought that same model, in prewired version, for $74.99 plus shipping. Got it here:

Haven't had time to hook it up yet, but will post back after I do. It is most definitely aquarium safe, as I confirmed with both the vendor and others. Just looking at it, the probe is sealed with epoxy like material, so should be cool.

FWIW, the pre wired version comes with some seriously heavy duty wiring.

Mine took me all of 2 minutes to wire it up... It took longer to take the screws out to gain access to the guts. ;)
