I'm having a terrible algae problem which I'm guess is due to phosphate rich top off water. I was using an old test kit and didn't good vibes from its reliability so I purchased a new API phosphate test kit.
I tested by ro/di water and thought a I got a reading of .5 (problem found). I also tested the tap water and got a reading .5. So then I replaced all of the filters in my ro/di unit assuming it would fix the problem and got a reading of .5. TO make sure I was reading it right I did all three test at the same time tap, old filter ro/di (from top-off tank), and fresh ro/di water from new filters. The picture below is the result.
My water department says there phosphate level is .05 ppm.

So...... is my test kit bad.... my tap pretty good..... or my ro/di filter junk.....
I don't have a tds meter, but plan to buy one tommorrow.....
