I am wanting to add a refugium to my 30 gallon tank and it is not drilled. I am not really wanting to disrupt the tank at this point and drilling holes. I have built a weir to siphon water out of the tank down to the refugium. I am a little concerned that sometime the siphon might be disrupted and cause my display tank to overflow. What kinds of solutions or ideas do you all have that could ease my nervousness a little?

I'm not familiar with the operation of a weir, but I'd suggest that you just get yourself a good quality hang-on overflow box that employs a U-tube and you won't have any flooding concerns.

What's the best hob overflow and best place to get it?

Ebay! I do not recommend using the kind that utilize an air pump.
I heard when the power shuts off that these can flood. Anyway there is a lot of info on this topic here on Reef Central.

Generally, the U-tube type hang-on overflow made by Lifereef (www.lifereef.com) is considered to be a very good one. I have two Amiracles that are very reliable and I'd recommend. There are others available on eBay and essentially they all operate the same way so you can't go wrong.

It all depends on what the water level in your sump/refugium is. If it is low enough, and the power goes out, it won't flood.

Also, drill a small hole in your return line, just above the water line.
