Anyone ever heard of a japonicus/nigricans hybrid? Would it just get mistaken for a generic powder brown of sorts? Anyone have a pic?

According to G. R. Allen they do hybridize. There is a photo of a japonicus/nigrecans hybrid in J. Randalls book, SERGEONFISHES OF HAWAI'I AND THE WORLD, in the section on hybrids. The text states that there have been many sightings (in Tiawan), but the ranges don't overlap much in other places.

The Achilles/goldrim show up once in a while, some look more like a Achilles others more like a goldrim.
If you go to Marine Center's webpage and type goldrim, you see a hybrid, it has a orange tail, not yellow.
