Give us a bit more info...dimensions of tank, what are you keeping and reflectors. I have 4-400 Reeflux 12k's on my 420 (96"L x 36"W x 28"H) in Luminarc III's and it is really punching alot of light into the tank. I'm all sps and I have to be real careful to acclimate new corals carefully or they bleach. If I was to do it again I might go with 250's.

Joe 400s are a little much with the LB reflectors you could have easily went with 250s. I would cut your photo period 6 hours. How high do you have your reflectors and make sure your nipples are up on the reeflux bulbs. Jim (Bubbletip) and I did test on my 250s yesterday and we got numbers close to 400w in lumenarc reflectors. These bulbs put our great par. Previous par tests on these bulbs were inacurate.

Are sure it is your lighting? What is your tanks parimeters at Joe?

Tom I have a 210 with 4 400's and My buddy Mike(Acroporanut) recommended to me raising them up a bit around 18" or so and dropping back to 3 instead of 4....and making sure the nipple is pointing up toward the reflector to get the spread more spread through the tank..thanks Mike...Ill keep everyone posted.....Im with everyone reflux 400's are very powerful...but they do get the job done and are very helpful on reacing the bottom of my 30" tank...

I have 2tanks a 210 and a 75 I do the same stuff on both tanks....The 75 is Incredible and the growth is stagering...

I keep my calcium around 400-420 and my alk at 7.8-8.2..these are maintained with a calcium reactor on both tanks....magnesium is dosed about once a month and we keep it at 1350ppm

ph is regulated with a ph monitor and stays around 7.8 at night and 8.0-8.1 during the day.....we sis step up our feeding to daily...since then are fish are happier...so I think If I raise the bulbs, cut the photo period and cut back to 3 Ill be back in business....

Funny what a small world we live in. I also talked to Mike awhile back and was the reason I switched to Reeflux...especially after looking at his tank.
