Return Pump Stopped Working

Just a few minutes ago, I heard my tank start to back siphon. Obviously, this happens when the return pump shuts off. The pump is plugged into one of the outlets of my DC8. I checked the outlet with a volt meter and got something wierd like 314V. After about 20min. I checked the outlet again and got 115V. I plugged the pump back in and it worked. What would cause this to happen? All the other outlets on the DC8 were ok. I didn't even see the lights in the house flicker. Any idea?

wow ...i would think the 314 volts wold blow the DC8....no real ideas though....

If it really was 314 volts, it would have to come from the power company. I would expect the DC8 to behave erratically if this was the case.
