Sandsifting goby

Does anyone hear have a sandsifting goby? Would you recommend it? Any important info for them? Later on this week I plan on getting either a watchman goby or a diamond goby?

If your tank is less then 1 year old it will most likely starve. In fact, it's not uncommon for these fish to starve in some mature tanks. Many have success but there are failures as well.

I had a golden headed sleeper goby for about 2 years. he was always active and fun to watch.

I think ill wait a little bit, get some sandsifting starfish, snails, and some corals while i let my tank mature enough to get the goby. The tank itself is almost a year old but i just switched from CC to sand last week. I guess Ill wait it out.

these are great for keeping your sand nice and clean but they do tend to sprinkle sand all over your corals.

I put one in my 120gallon shortly after adding that tank it to my system about 1 and a half years ago. The sustrate is about an inch of oolictic sand which it maintains magnificently. I do feed the tank well and include not only mysis and,brine and bloodworms but also cyclopeeze daily. My diamond goby comes into the water column to feed and sifts sand all day. Still thriving.

I hear good things but I have also heard of them burying coral frags pretty quickly

And if you have an overflow, be prepared to fish them out. Mine jumped in there today, thankfully after poking him, he jumped back into the tank.

They make a mess of everything, sand everywhere, and the risk of rock slides if things aren't stable. It drives me nuts sometimes, but I love the thing.

Now I've owned 2, both ate anything and everything, the first one did jump though, so I went with glass tops. This guy is a pig, loves his pellets, flakes, and even frozen food.
