second thread on the same topic.........you wonder why people won't respond.....seriously, if the other comments that we have made are really that worthless to you, then I don't know why you are still seeking our advice.

you need to read more if you dont know the answers. and i wouldnt start with anything less than 30 gallons, less water means easier contamination, ph swings, temp swings, salinity swings. if you must know you need 1.5-2 puonds of liverock and i would go with a sump with a remaote deep sand bed of 6". if you dont wanna go that rout i would do 2-3" sand bed there are calculators on the home page that will tell you how many lbs of sand will be needed. once again i advise you to read more! in the word of salt water we really dont use mechanical filters its more of a biological filter thats why you need the liverock and live sand. so you can grow the bacteria and small critters that take care of wast. what kind of filter were you planing on?

ppl seem to have aqua clear 50s on their pico 3g

so mayb less, i was hoping at most a 20,

ive had a nano cube b4, but couldnt do it b/c of costs, but this is smaller, less money

but thanks for the help so far

smaller = less money.....that is not necessarily true.. AT ALL.

I spent way more money on my 20H then my friend did on his 55.

Please, please, please just ask your questions in the same thread. The rate you're going, this time next year the nano forum will be dedicated just for you.

Well, now we know what your plan is. And just an FYI the mods on here def. won't think that is cool at all. And BTW: I am surprised a mod has not gotten rid of your several threads anyway, or at least posted in one of them.

It seems that you need a lot of advice that could simply come from some of the books that are FS. I would, if you haven't already, go into a local book store and pickup some books on reefing and aquarium keeping.

or if you dont have money for books(i have several rangeing from 20-70$) you can go to a library to ive seen some books in our library but most are outdated. when i had my harliquin shrimps i put a aquaclear 70 on it and made the filter into a fuge there are easy mods you can do to it to lessen the flow, btw they were in my 5.5 gallon tank. i had 13 lbs of lr and a 2 inch sand bed.

do you guys think i can have green star polyps, in the 5 gallon,
i researched the wattage for a 6g eclipse and its only T5-8W
is that enough to have gsp's ?????

or should i get a 9" 2x 9W Coralife Mini Aqualight CF hood, 1x Actinic and 1x 10,000K for $24 plus shipping ??????

I like the coralife mini fixture, and i had quite a bit of growth in my mom's pico before she chose to tear it down.

It looks nice too.

there is really no point of doing a sw tank that is going to be 5 gallons. i suggest u spend the extra like $20 and get a 20gallon tank

there are many ppl with small tanks, alot smaller than 5g, like 3g,.5 and so on.

if i got the 20g. i would have to invest alot of money, into really nice lights, big filter, heater, sump, more live rock, live sand snails, and everything

but thanks 4 the suggestion

if im not able to get the coralife mini for a while, do you guys thnk green star polyps could live under T5-8W for a little while?????

stevelkaneval

i have the 30" coralife 2x65 watts. when i got my star polyps they were the size of a nickle, now 4 months later the matt is around a 6" diameter. so yes you can grow gsp's withe pc. and another thing the size of the tank has nothing to do with what coral you can keep its all about the light needs of certain corals. fish on the other hand are a different story.

stevelkaneval
12/03/2007, 09:05 PM
oh yea why are you asking so many questions, when you have over 1000 posts? and you used to have a nano. sorry its just weird thats all. there not even really difficult questions.

BiggySmalls
12/03/2007, 09:11 PM
i know that tank size matters with fish
but with the nano i had good lights so i was able to have some nice coral

well if u want me to stop asking questions i will and will let my tank fail

i dont even have the salt to mix yet, so i have some time b4 anything happens so i want an extra opinion on things

thanks

I could live with myself...

Go with the Coralife if you can, they're great. I put 8lbs of LR in my 5.5g, but no LS, because, well, I was/am a n00b.

BiggySmalls

do u regret no sand?

Aussie_hippie_2
12/04/2007, 04:51 PM
Well, I only own one SW tank, so I can't really compare it to anything. The live sand around here is etremely expensive, so I just went with more LR. If I did it again, I would definatly add a little live sand, even if it's only a pound or so...

BiggySmalls
12/04/2007, 05:33 PM
you can just put in playgound sand, or whatever its called, and then add a little of a friends live sand to add bacteria to playsand

BiggySmalls
12/05/2007, 05:48 PM
now i got a 5.5 becasue its easier to filter, and light, water changes

o well now ill start this one, im almost outta cash which sucks
