Hi,

I've been cycling my tank for 2 months, letting it mature slowly before I add anything.

I think I am ready to add fish now, but I still can't decided what! I've done a lot of reading about the typical fish (e.g. gobies) for this type of aquarium, but I was hoping to get something more fun/unusual.

I was thinking maybe dwarf seahorses, but looking at the seahorse forum, my tank is not appropriately setup for their delicate nature (running stock pump which is too strong, temp is too high, etc). I think the boxfish/cowfish look so awesome too, but of course can't have that in a nano!!

Can anyone suggest some cool ideas?
Thanks :)

I know clowns aren't necessarily exotic and you run the chance of people shouting and pointing "Nemo!". However, I still love them (especially as a pair).

I know people with smaller tanks have enjoyed something like the yasha-haze goby.

This site has an easy to navigate gallery and short bio of quite a few fish.. it's a good place to start.

I was wondering if anybody knew any info about upside down jellyfish? I came across these today and it said full size of roughly 6 inches, but that it would take forever to get that size. It also stated that their reef safe and won't be harmful to humans and other fish. Anybody try one in a 12G?

Thanks Rosseau for the link, that is a great website! I will browse it thoroughly after work today!

I'm actually quite fond of the clownfish and I was originally planning on doing just corals and 1 false perc, but I've been told my aquarium is too small for clownfish (it would outgrow it). Has anyone had any luck keeping clownfish in a 12g nano cube (or 10g regular tank) for a long period of time?

If clownfish is out of the question, then my original question remains...

Certain species of clownfish should probably work. i.e. ocellaris/percula clowns.

Some will definitely get too big i.e. Maroon clowns.

I have a pair of wild caught true Percula misbar clownfish in my 12g and they are as happy as can be.

Check out this site for clowns, found it today, and its awesome!!!

Other wise if you have the $$$ Helfirichi Firefish is pretty sweet...
