I purchased a few filters from you about three or so weeks ago and I thing I put a total of three hundred gallons through them, tonite I turned on the RO and nothing is comming out the fresh side and very little on the exit side. I ran every canister independently and found that it was my new Clorine block thats clogging the unit, what can be done so it will be up and running again Thank you, Mark

Hi Mark. Would you tell me the pore size of each of your prefilters? With this info I can suggest filters to lengthen the time between filter changes.

Are you on well water? If no, was there something unusual that happened since you installed you new filters? New waterlines in the neighborhood - something like that?

Hey Russ the invoice calls it a chlorine block cartridge-the chlorine guzzler,10 inch #2.

My Transaction # is 8Y2473432DOOO511C

My first cartridge is a 1 micron, the second is a GAC then third is the GUZZLER after that are the RO membranes and DI resin.

I unplugged the unit from the second stage GAC and the water came shooting out, then into the Guzzler where it barely even dripped, which tells me it's the guzzler. (I even rinsed it out and turned it upside down with no effect).

My water is from the Hetch-Hetchy reservoir at 15-16 ppm. so it's not the incoming water (tested with inline and hand held TDS).

There has not been any construction in any of the surrounding neiborhoods and nothing about my RO has changed since changing filters.

So what do you think?

Based upon that, I'm assuming you have chloramines in your water? That would be the only purpose for the GAC ahead of the block.

I suspect what happenned is that the GAC was not sufficiently flushed during installation and the carbon fines from the GAC clogged the guzzler. The guzzler will need to be replaced.

So are you saying that the guzzler is supposed to be before the GAC?

No sir. You need to flush the GAC well before installing it in the system.

Actually I had flushed the GAC for an hour in a canister by itself because I had forgot about it and left it running, this is not my first experience with GAC's just the Guzzler. So if you are saying that the only way a Guzzler can freeze up is by user error then I can live with that, if not then I know where we stand thank's for your responses on this matter Russ.

Not sure I follow.

Bottomline is that the guzzler is clogged. If not from fines off the GAC, than by other sediment. If you have a 1 mic sediment filter ahead of the block, "other sediment" shouldn't be a problem
