would this be a good investment for christmas? My GF is wanting to know what I want, I don't want to over due it but I heard good things about this controller. Can anyone recommend a better controller for cheaper or possibly give me some review on this item?

I have them on two tanks and love it. Much better than all the single timers and power strips I used to have. I also added the PH monitor so at a glance I can see temp and PH.

With a push of a button I stop all pumps at one.

Go for it, you'll love it.

Stopping all the pumps at feeding time is worth it for me. My little 2 year daughter loves to push the stand-by button and watch the bubbles.

If you could swing a RK2 for Christmas do it, you will be more than glad that you did. Besides it took me all of about half an hour to set it up and program it.

I bought one off a fellow RC'er. Very happy with it so far, it has a nice display and can be updated online. One draw back is that, for me anyway, was lack of plugins. I ended up running an extension cord with a multiplug on it so I can plug in multiple heaters without taking up the slots on the RK2.

Another thing I had an issue with was if I would switch off say number 2. sometimes it would not turn off...I would have to cycle it from off to on a bunch of times before it would respond. Tech support figured it just needed to be "re-updated", but I have it nicely mounted with the wires hidden and don't feel like unhooking it to put it on my pc.

But yeah I like it, I also got the ph probe, the good one I believe. Since it was used it did not come with the pH solution, so I don't know if the pH probe is accurate right now. Temp probe seems to be reliable now that I calibrated it too.

Hi, I am running a Reef Keeper 2 on my 180 reef tank and it is great. You can run many different lights on different cycles (sump lighting at night, halides and t5s during the day). It has many different timers which allow for cycling Kalk mixers off and on at different times etc. It really simplifies control of the lighting, heaters and pumps.

I have been using my RK2 for about 6 months and I have REALLY enjoyed it. It is especially great when it is feeding or cleaning times. 1 button stop, no mess, no stress.:) I wish I had one from the beginning. I still haven't used all that it is capable of doing, but plan to after 1st of the year.
