I have a brand new aussie bright red scoly. The color is good. The first day I fed the tank I got a very cool feeding response, it opened its mouth and I saw tenticles. I tried to get some shrimp to it before it closed but I failed. I have not seen this same reponse since then. Would love some feeding advice.

Try feeding after lights out. If nothing else just turn the pumps off and drop some food on it. It should eat it within a few minutes. Mine does not feed as readily as some other LPS, but will take food as long as it's given a few minutes without strong water currents or fish pulling the food away.

I will give it a try tonight. That's what I was thinking because the pump definitely blows the food in and then out again! Was thinking mysis or some krill?

Well -- it worked but I had the shut EVERYTHING off. How often do you feed?

Actually I don't think I've fed mine at all for the last couple months. It doesn't seem to need feeding, but it probably helps in some ways. This thread reminded me of it so I think I'll feed it tonight.

I try to feed mine once or twice a week.

Mine will show a feeding response about 15 minutes after the fish food has gone in. I usually target feed it then. Corals do get used to the timing in the tank, so it's a good idea to feed your fish/corals at around the same time each day, so the corals get trained.

Mine seems to take some time to put the food into its mouth, so I usually have to stand there with something to stop the shrimp from stealing its food.

I have 4 scoly's now and I'm not able to spot feed because of all my fish, but they still do very well on their own.

Mine does not extend its polyps like those in your pictures without dropping food on it and then it withdraws pretty quickly. Perhaps it takes time as it has not been in my tank a week yet. I am so weird -- I love these different corals and seeing how they feed. I get a feeding response and get all excited -- saying to my husband -- come here-- you got to see this! He humors me and looks. But I love these guys and I want to get a few more if I can find the sand real estate! I want one of those blue/purple ones too but MD said they cannot guarantee colors on anything that is outside of the divers den.
