I've seen clip on fans that have 2-3 small fans in a rectangular fixture. It looks perfectly suited for the braceless Elos tank. Does anyone know where to buy these from?

Have you ever seen G.Alexander's DIY fan rack? If I could do it man, I would. But it would looks like crap if I tried. He also uses the Titan fans on his DIY. They are really silent.

No, I've never seen his fan rack. Got a pic?

The fans are called Propeller Breeze and they're made by GHL/Profilux. They will only turn on or off if you do not have the controller to do variable speed. I bought mine from Aquarium Specialty but you can check with aqua-digital.com to see who the other retailers are.

Thanks Slovan. How quiet are they? I'd probably hook it up to my AC3.

They're really quiet. But then again, I'm only using it on my sump because I am trying to keep everything hidden as much as I can. :)

The only thing I can compare them to would be a 4" Ice Cap fan because that's all I have experience with. I would say the entire unit is just as quiet as a single 4" Ice Cap fan.

Sounds good. Thanks again.

I am a poor guy so this is what I have. It works great even after dropped into water, sprayed full of salt creep and cat fur.

Although I do like those silver ones, I know Jesse sells them. I don't have an immediate need right now in winter.

Great... give me another reason to call Jesse! :) Thank god it's winter!

Slovan and David,
How stable are the fans on the tank? Does the mounting bracket seem reliable over time?

I haven't had the knobs loosen up on me, yet. If you don't run into it everyday, you shouldn't have a problem. :) Even when I tested them in a eurobrace situation for a couple days, the fan stayed in place.

Thanks again Slovan.

will these fans work on a perfecto tank that has a plastic trim around it?

Fliger

Mine held great - no problems!

Thanks for the links guys, definitely a little cheaper than the Giesemann alternative :D . I'm going to have to keep those in mind for when the weather warms up.

Just out of curiosity, do you need their controller to run them or will they work on their own? (is there just an on/off switch to them?)

elosusa

you don't need a controller, though the BII new firmware gives you a fan control for any fan but even that is not really needed.

MikeD

So is there an on off switch or just a plug to turn on and then your controller does the on and off based off of temp?

elosusa

the controller will do the switching. I don't believe these have switches just a plug. Yes the BII will turn on/off according to temps.
