Hey guys I have a 54 corner and was thinking about the flow I have in the tank and want to know what you guys thought. I have a not drilled 54 corner with a overflow box. I have my pumps setup like this right now. Pic Koralia 3 in the back and one in the front left. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f125/dave12678/IMG_1048.jpg

I would like to get more flow to the back of the tank. I have the 3 whipping the water across the front and the 1 across the middle. The return pump isn't giving much flow so all I have is those pumps. Should I move them to get better flow or leave it how it is? I could move the one to point behind the rock to make a whirlpool effect but I though it might take away from the coral in the middle. You guys have any ideas please post up, I think I want a normal tank lol.

Beautiful Tank Dave. Have a 54g myself and run two Koralia 3 and small return. I wish I had an answer as placement is my biggest issue right now as well.

Just have to ask, what skimmer are you running on this?

Just a Cheap corallife 65 one I am looking to upgrade after the holidays. I was looking at the octopus HOB skimmers. Corners are so nice to look at but such a pain to get flow right, one good thing lighting is cheap :) post a pic of your corner.

My 54 is drilled and I use a Mag 5 for my return pump. Initially I was using MaxiJet powerheads with the Hydor Flo deflectors on them (900 and 1200). I didn't like the look of them in the tank as they took up too much space. I recently downsized from 2 tanks to just my 54 and put two Ecotech Marine Vortech pumps on the 54. They are almost too powerful and I have to run them at their lowest settings, but they do create great flow for the tank. If the tank was not so LPS dominated I would open the up for more flow. I run one of them 24/7 and the second on cycles on/off every 20 minutes.

Here is a picture of the tank (sorry for the bad quality, I can't seem to take good pictures, LOL).

I run a Quiet One 3000 for return on my Corner tank. I also have a Tunze 6025 and a Maxijet with a Hydro flow attached to supplement the flow.

Thanks. I will see if I can get some more recent pictures. That picture is from about 2 months ago and we all know how quickly tanks can change.

I run two modded 6025's (~1100gph each) in each of the top front corners pointed toward the back of my tank, along with my return pump (maybe 500gph). I plan on adding two more modded 6025's just below the first pair to better support SPS corals throughout the tank.

Damn jefe did you go bare bottom? I know my pumps moves some loose sand.

I have about an inch of somewhat coarse sand and the only thing that moves it is my pistol shrimp. I did the wide flow mod to my 6025's which cuts down the velocity a bit. I'm also kind of surprised that I still need more, but it's just different areas of the tank that need more flow. The two 6025's I currently have keep the back of the tank moving nicely.
