I relly would like to some how put metal halides on my BC29. I know nanotuners.com has upgrade kits but i was wondering if something like this would actually work. Are there any other ideas?

Yea, it will work.

The viper is a crappy light. I had it for a month and sold it on here.

I'd go to nano tuners, then you can keep the sleek all-in-one look and have hqi lighting.

That would work...but like zma said, it's supposed to be pretty crappy. I just retrofitted a 70watt halide into my 14 biocube. I used this kit...

I upgraded the 2 fans that were already in the hood and added 2 more for cross ventilation. I put the halide in place of the daylight bulb. The reason i used the kit was because I didnt want to pay the additional price for the nanotuners kit...

I did something similar. I have 2 of these ballasts which I purchased for about $30 a piece.

What would be the point on spending 145 dollars and losing 2 watts in my overall lighting?

jjeanda-I will post some pics eventually but I'm really not sure when I'll be able to as I'm leaving friday for a Christmas trip. Basically I took out the daylight bulb, screwed in the endcaps for the bulb, put 2 fans on the bulb for cross ventilation, bought better fans to replcae the stock ones, opened up some of the vents, and now I still need one more fan to blow across the water. Without that my temp stays pretty good and usually gets up to about 82 by the end of the day. Hopefully with a fan sucking air in blowing across the water I'll have it down below 80...
