Hello I am setting up a 300 gallon tank and would like to just use MH lighting. Does anybody out there just use MH's and if so what temp. do you use for sunrise and sunset? Thanks Jeff

You can use 14k-20k bulbs for a blue look.

I use only 20K MH Ushio lamps. Sunrise is easy because they take a while to warm up. Sunset is instant! :D

There are some ballast that are capable of these effects. I know sfilogi or whatever can do them but they're balling outta control expensive. There are some things you can do with the profilux controller as well. Also might be able to get crafty with timing of turning on the MH's...150 20k's on first then blast the 400w's or something.

Coralvue Reeflux 12k's are nice. Check out the September 2007 tank of the month.

I am only running Reeflux 12ks. No actinics. Love the color. I will have it so that one bulb lights up at a time and then in reverse order.
