DE Reflector Orientation

I am designing a light hood for my new DE setup and I want to know if it matters which way the reflector is oriented, perpendicular to the aquarium or horizontal. Also how high off the water should the reflectors be? I have heard 9 inches, does that sound right?

9" seems a little high but i use a chiller mine are 5 to 6"

I go with 6 inches off the top of the tank water is and inch lower so about 7 inches. as close as you want without heating the water to much.

Will do, which way would you turn the reflector though? Does it matter?
