Recently, I have purchased a Red Dragon 800.
I don't believe it's functioning correctly. The reason is stated below:

1. As usual, the pump was immersed in the water, then I plugged the electrical cord. The pump ran normally.
2. I unplugged the cord while the pump was still in the water, then replugged it again. The pump didn't start.
3. I emptied the water out and repeat step 1. The pump started working again.
4. I measured the electrical input and output. Both had abnormal readings. They were 1.55 Amp and 1.65 Amp. If 1.65 * 115V = 190 W, this doesn't not match with what's labeled on the pump, 72W.

Could anyone tell me know if this is normal for the Red Dragon 800?

Sounds defective to me, I'd return it. For the money you paid for that pump it better start up every time you plug it in and it better be at OR below the advertised wattage.
Hell for the price of that pump the bubbles it makes should be made of gold.....absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

Post in this forum. They are supposed to be handling the warranties for Red Dragon/Royal Exclusive.

That forums not for handling warranty problems. He needs to contact the vendor he bought the pump from and explain to them that the $700 dollar pump he bought isn't up to spec.
