View Full Version : For Fun: What's on your holiday wish list for your tank?
If you were making out your wish list, as the title says, what would you wish for---in order of how hard you're wishing. ;)
And if you like---any 'why's, for the less obvious?

I hear about people getting free tanks. So my wish even though its more a dream then a wish is to come across a very big tank.

I'm wishing I can get my two 75g finally sumped together and in working order! Keep running into various "snags" but hopefully it'll be well on it's way come Christmas time :D Then maybe santa can bring me a few new frags/fish for the "new" 150g + system.
And if that's not enough wishing, wish my 220g had all the equpiment ready so I could get that one started finally. The longer it sits empty the more convinced I am to do a freshwater tank out of it....and we don't want that now do we, gotta have another reef tank!
Another reef, another reef!
Hey, you can do a stony tank, and a softie tank. An anemone/mushroom tank. The permutations are endless!

Hrmmm, where to start... Well right now, I am just waiting for my tank to age. My wish is for more patience while it ages. but I am coming up on 8 month mark :).
Oh yeah and an ocean motions 4-way for the closed loop system. Not a big wish, but it is all I need right now.

We decided on His and Hers 75g tanks :D It's so much nicer having a woman who's just as addicted to the hobby as myself. And since setting the tanks this way, I havn't heard any complaining about my coral/fish purchases either, who can ask for anything more for christmas than a cooperative better half and alot of reef tanks!

This question is so depressing!!!Between buying Christmas gifts for my son,a large flat screen t.v for starters, and mice chewing the heck out of all my wires in my Blazer due to sitting after a long illness, had to spend more on repairs then on gas for the lifetime of it. I wish for a large built in wall tank but can only hope for a goldfish bowl and a fish! LOL oh well maybe next year!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Perfect water chemistry all the time!
Deb, consider used equipment---a little white vinegar cycled in it for 24 hours and it might work.
But I know where you're at---just after my move up to the NW, I got an ecoglobe with 2 brine shrimp, just to have something watery.
7 going on 8 years later, the 2 brine shrimp are still alive. I sometimes think about dropping the globe into my tank to frustrate the daylights out of the fish---but I don't want to scare those two geriatric brine shrimp.

I'd love to get an AC Jr or a ReefKeeper 2 for my AquaPod, but, alas, I am short on funds after "doing onto others" for Christmas. Perhaps in the New Year.
As an aside, it'd be awesome if more online stores had Boxing Day sales :)

My wish list is some PVC, bulkheads and a return pump. I got a 150 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump off of Mr. Rogers (member on Reefcentral, not the TV guy) and haven't had the time to fully clean out the tank. Got the sump cleaned and ready to go, but since having ankle issues I haven't had time to clean it out and get everything setup.

I tried to PM you. Your box is full.
I have done that. It worked, but now it's back again. I set up a fuge with cheato. Has not be effective as of yet. It's been a week. I ran phosban with no results. I just run carbon, now. I have been removing it and doing 10% WC. I going to do 30% this week. I have zero phosphates. I am thinking my rocks are the source. I purchased dry rock. I did not do a good job at cleaning, since it was a new tank. I put a few rocks in a five gal bucket with chemclean, it did not do much. I am so glad I did not put this in my tank. Since, the tank is only 5months old, I hope this will pass. I wish they made something to kill this bacteria.
Can't believe it's full: I'm going to have to talk to tech about that. You do have to repeat the lights-out monthly for a while, and that will help your fuge work faster. You're probably quite right about the source...and right, too, that it will pass. They do make something to kill it [and sell it] but don't use it---it doesn't discriminate about your bacteria in your sand; best just fight it the way you are, and it WILL get solved without risking your sandbed. Every tank goes through a bit of it.

What do I wish for? Well.. I wish that the funds for my 300 gallon would get here sooner...
that and I wouldn't mind getting the other funds for my coral farm.
But if I was gonna say fish I wish my LFS would finally get some tank-raised dragonface pipefish in like he said he would months ago.

I am fighting the same thing I have cut my feedings down to once a day lights out for 3 days even cover the tank with a dark towel so teh light from the livingroom windows doesn't get in. I have had this for 2 months now and it is getting worse I have even increased the flow etc it just isn't working so I am nuking it on Friday when I pick up my red slime remover.

they do make something that kills cyano...its some kind of antibiotic--i got some at my lfs to ensure my lightsout success. but you have to stop skimming--wow did it make a mess!
i want to decide on a fixture or canopy for my 75g, 2x150 or 250w 15k with 2 or 4 T5's actinic. remote e-ballasts.
AND i really want somebody to help me make an overflow out of black acrylic for my newly drilled tank...i need to build and glue that thing in so i can start cycling my sand...

i want it all. i want all the fish, i want all the lps, sps, in a 100,000 tank in my living room, and i want my kids to love to clean it and my husband to throw $ at it, and we'll all live happily ever after! maybe i should move to atlantis? :0)
:D I'd be happy if I just got some more money so I could finally order a few corals online so my tank would finally not look so bare :p. I've had it setup for close to 2 years and still the only corals in it are a brain coral that is finally starting to come back and a patch of dime sized shrooms.
Other than that I could use a couple of tunze nanos, bunch of electrical parts so I can DIY something so I can switch individual outlets off, salt, siphon, magfloat, some plexiglass...:)
