Im looking to get a nano tank and cant seem to decide between the JBJ 28g or the RSM. Im looking to do LPS/ SPS corals with a pretty heavy bioload (6-7 fish). Can anyone please tell me thier experiences and the pros and cons of these 2 tanks? And if I will need to add a better skimmer for my bioload (im pretty sure i will).

Anyone also having any of these for sale i may be interested.

Thanks alot,
Laz

Since you want SPS, i say the JBJ HQI.

I was debating about the same issue for quite some time. The RSM offers the practicality of a closed system with almost everything integrated on it. However unless you mod it to allow more lighting you will be limited to the kind of corals you can have in it.
The JBJ 28 HQI has good lighting and and IMO has more possibilities for modifications.
Have you consider the Current Solana? Some people do not like the pendant light.

Well it seems to me the only thing the RSM has over the JBJ 28g is the fact that it has an onboard control center, and another 6 gallons.

But on the other hand, the jbj has the HQI 150w and 2 18w pcs, and if i wanted to mod the RSMs hood to have the same id pretty much be spending an extra like $400 just for 6 gallons of space and a built in timer.
Am I right or am I overlooking something?

...RSM....However unless you mod it to allow more lighting you will be limited to the kind of corals you can have in it.
...

...why? So far everything is doing just fine with the stock lighting, and my tank's turned into a specimen tank with a little of everything...

I say go RSM...you don't have to modify it if you don't want to...

^ If you want SPS to thrive instead of survive, go JBJ.

...mine's growing quickly...isn't that thriving?

The RSMs are nice but the HQ lighting on the JBJ is a huge advantage. You get a lot more bang for your buck with it.

I've never owned an RSM but I do own a JBJ HQI and I'm quite pleased with it.

It might be growing, but it would grow much faster and have MUCH better color under more intense light.

You can buy the RSM and upgrade to MH, but that's a lot of dough.

why not an AP24 w/ HQI 150? easily modded and easier to work with.

...nah...I'll stick with what I have...if I start doing mods, I'm defeating my whole reason for buying the RSM to begin with...
