Does the Medium CPR Refugium fit on the back of a 30g cube (or 37g cube)

Its says the fuge is just over 19" long and the tank is about 18"

Also, what pump does the CPR fuge use to pump water from the tank to the fuge? How big is that pump?

thanks

well if the fuge is an inch longer than the tank i would say no.

The fuge has an inlet and outlet on either end. If the inlet and outlet are within 17" of each other then there is no reason it should not fit.

The fuge itself may be an inch longer, but that could just be the length of the fuge casing and not have anything to do with the hanging mechanism or flow tubing.

Thanks for the free bump though

I am fitting the 19" CPR refugium w/ skimmer into a 10g that is 20" and it barely fits because of the pump. It is a MaxiJet 1200. Does the one you are looking at have the skimmer? If so the only way it would fit is to retro the pump inlet.

Charles

Thanks for the reply. The one I am looking at does NOT have the skimmer.

WOW! Some REALLY nasty replies in this thread. Can't understand why someone would be so rude. If ya don't know the answer or can't help--then go stare at your tank. Google doesn't tell you how far apart the pipes are.

I have the medium unit without a skimmer. It's like 19" long x 4.5" wide x 12" tall and 3.6g capacity.

The pipes are exactly 17 and 5/8" apart. Thats the clearance you need to fit them both inside the tank. That's the TIGHT measurement. I'd figure 17 and 3/4" to be safe.

The pump is a ViaAqua powerhead and is rated at 730L/hour. I have no idea how many gallons that is. Around 185--200GPH +/- (?)

You may have to tweak the intake pipe at an angle to get the powerhead on without hitting the side. The fittings have threads and can be adjusted slightly to make it work.

My large refugium (24") had the MJ1200 pump too. I felt it was too strong and the current was RIPPING through the refugium. I bought a MJ900 and replaced the stock pump.

The MJ1200 is 295GPH. The MJ900 is 230GPH.

The MJ900 will plug right into the plumbing with no mods. Just take the 1200 out and plug the 900 in. Takes 10 seconds.

I think it's better to slow the flow in the fuge. Mine is larger than yours, and it was flowing so fast that pods were being washed out. It looked like somebody had a friggin' boat motor hooked up to it.

Just FYI in case you want to slow down the flow through your refugium.
