I was thinking of choosing 6-7 of these fish for my tank (I definitely really wanted the mated pair of O clowns and the six line wrasse). I will also be keeping mostly SPS corals in the tank once the tank stabilizes.
(The ones with a 2 next to them i really wanted in pairs for either schooling or breeding purposes)
O. Clowns (2)
Blue/Green Chromis [sp?] (2)
Banggai Cardinals (2)
Six line wrasse
A shrimp goby
Blackcap basslett
Royal gamma
And since I know this is pushing the bioload on this size tank I will definitely be counting on a good cleanup crew. Anything anyone thinks I should modify in this list?
Cleanup crew:
1/2 turbo per gallon
1 scarlet hermit per gallon
1 pistol shrimp
1 scarlet shrimp
1 cucumber
Also does anyone think its a terrible idea to have this kind of bioload considering I will be putting in Acros/montis etc in the future?
I will be doing weekly 5g changes to the tank and not sure if I should change the stock skimmer and put in a Remora or something.
Thanks a lot guys,
Laz

Maybe a sea star instead of the cucumber?

I would be worried about the blackcap and royal gramma fighting because they are both basslets. Other than that, get a good skimmer.

As far as the basslets go, if I got any it would of only been one of the two- not both.

way to many fish dude, stick with 6 or less, cromis are cool, but the like to swim, lose them, corals contribute to a bioload, you will be way overstocked.
I have 4 fish in a 28, 3 shrimp, a decent cuc and various lps and softies. Good skimmer or not your asking for trouble

So hows this for a revamped list?
(The ones with a 2 next to them i really wanted in pairs for either schooling or breeding purposes)
O. Clowns (2)
Banggai Cardinals (2)
Six line wrasse
A shrimp goby (yellow watchman probably)
Blackcap basslet or a Royal gamma basslet
Cleanup crew:
1/2 turbo per gallon
1 scarlet hermit per gallon
1 pistol shrimp
1 scarlet shrimp
1 cucumber or serpent star (use this to control the poop that settles on the bottom)

I will still be wanting to get some SPS/LPS once the tank stabilizes

i have a 29gallon 99.9% sps tank and this is my stock list
3 yellow tail damsels
3 domino damsels
1 flame angel
i tried to get my tank to resemble a reef in fiji and i have had perfect params for 6mths and then tank has been set up for 2yrs. n e ways chromis suck imo they need to be kept in groups of 3 or more because if they rnt they start killing each other and yes i have had that experience. cardinals i think need to be kept in groups of 3,5,7,9, ect... all the odd numbers. heres a compromized stock list for u
pair of occeliras clowns
six line wrasse
watchman goby with a pistol shrimp
royal gramma
fire fish.
cleaning crew
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
15 blue leg hermits
5 snails
1 pistol shrimp
1 sea cucumber
u should be good to go with this and it is a very lively fish list that exhibit alot of personality and dont stay hidden for ever so u wont be able to c them

Thanks alot brandon. I did however like the cardinals, has anyone else ever heard of this about cardinals? I didnt want to keep more than two so if this is the case I will scratch them from my list.
And can anyone else gimme some feedback on this cleaning crew?
Thanks!

Scott W. Michael the author of Marine Fishes states that Bangaii Cardinals do better as single specimens where as Orbic (Pajama) Cardinals do better in small schools...I think. But I may have gotten that backwards...

Well at my LFS ive seen them housing like 10 bangaii with other fish in a tank about 100g. But Ive also seen tanks with schools of pajamas

loose the star....replace it with nassarius snails for a ligher bio load besides the star will get too big

On an ethical stand point, just remember that Bengaii's are extremely threatened in the wild, so...perhaps try something else? If we all buy them now, there'll be none for the future generations to enjoy.
OK, now I'm off my soap box.

you can get tank bred bangaii from ORA ask you LFS to order them for you. I almost bought one from ORA at a LFS but I didnt have the $$ right then. I have a 20 gallon with 10 gallon sump. Right now I have a flame Hawkfish. I had a 6 line wrasse and true perc, but they died from my pump.... anyways I plan to have 4 fish in my tank when I restock. I have no shrimp either, i am trying to find a big cleaner shrimp. I hope the flame does not mess with it, the flame is pretty small tho.

o I am sorry I forgot to comment on list lol
anyways I have been told by a very experienced person and by a few others that Turbos are for cooler water tanks. I know everyone gets them but how long do have you had the same one in your tank?
I had some and they kept dying on me and my temp was between 79-80.
what I have
5 astrea snails ( I have babies roaming around also don't know the amount)
4 or 3 nass
1 blue leg hermit
1 emerald crab
2-5 black suctus snails ( got them as hitchhikers from friend tank lol)
I am going to get a tiger cucumber on friday hopefully.
I suggest you don't put 15 blue legged hermits you do not need that many I only had two in my 20 ( actual gallons 28)and they did a great job I just moved one to my 10 gallon tank and I moved the crab there.
In my ten 2 astrea , one stomatella , the crab and thats it .....
I believe people go a little crazy with clean up crew remember they all have to eat and if you put so many of one species in one tank they will starve to dead.
