i have a sea hare and cleaner shrimp in my 29g Biocube. Can someone please tell me why my cleaner shrimp is ALWAYS found on the sea hare picking at it?

Case scenario: i'll feed the shrimp tonight before i go to sleep and it'll leave the seahare alone, then the next morning when the lights go on, i'll see the shrimp on the sea hare picking at it again. Please help as i dont want my sea hare to die :(

Be careful. Not sure if the situation is the same but I had a cleaner shrimp torture my darasa clam due to a "bruise" on the clam. I removed the shrimp and the clam got better. Does the sea hare mind the picking?

They can "clean" soft animals completely to death. Molluscs are particularly vulnerable, and molluscs with papillae or small, soft, camouflaging appendages will be harrassed mercilessly. Your sea hare may be tough enough to survive. Does he appear frazzled, or does he look like he did when you got him?

Cheers,

Sorry to venture a little off, but PAGOJOE, do you think I should avoid a cleaner shrimp when I stock my 100 and 75 that will have clams?

I don't really know, scoobaman. I never kept them together, but I'm sure lots of people on here have. Some of the cleaners are worse than others, so maybe the clam guys could give you better advice on this than I could.

Cheers,

Don
