I basically cried just trying to setup my RO/DI unit, so I know I am going to hate trying to make a sump. I will be using a 20 long for a 40 gallon, the overflow box is a tunze, dont know much about it since I have not bought it from a guy yet. What tools will I need to make the baffles, what pump will I need and what is reccommended protein skimmer. Links would help.

glass(5 or 6 mil), a glass cutter, a tape measure, some emery cloth, masking tape, 1" pieces of PVC (i prefer to use cardboard that way i can just soak it and pull it out without fear of breaking the glass) silicone, application gun, a steady hand, a magic marker and a 12 pack...
are you building in a fuge too?

pump will be dependent on the capacity of the overflow...

protien skimmer will be dependent on feeding, husbandry, bioload, and corals......i think a CS125 would work well for a tank that size though..but there are hundreds of designs and makes and models out there...

cut the glass... then the 12pack, then everything else...

You can also use plexiglass/acrylic from your local hardware store for the baffles.
