Well I set up a Solana Nano Tank for my girls and just wanted to share some pictures. It will be a zoo's, rics, shrooms, lps and maybe a couple of sps tank. They had to have a couple of nemos so we picked up a couple of CB babies at ATR. The live rock is from Durwins tank and is full of pods, worms and sponges. One rock has green star polyps growing on it. They had a little red turf algae but a couple of turbos and it's all cleaned up.

So far the 2 clowns are the only fish. There are a couple of peppermint shrimp hiding in there plus 1 electric blue hermit and a handful of assorted snails from my 240 gal.
Here are some pictures right after I added sand.

Thanks for the compliments. I plan on adding one more piece of rock if I can find a cool arch shaped piece. The clowns color is amazing. I guess they were raised on Cyclopzee (?) So I've been feeding them the same stuff. They are tiny, maybe 1"-1.25" long. I want to move these to to my big tank and add a pair of Onyx clowns.

Thanks! I actually think the skimmer does pretty well for an all-in-one stock skimmer. It has been pulling out a decent amount of medium tea color junk and some decent sludge. The ATO is a nice idea but to small to really help much. I just add water as needed until I hook up a tunze osmolator.

yea im thinking of buying a chiller as well for the tank, my tank is really far away from any water source in the house to even set up an ATO. the skimmer i kno if u mess with that rubber piece around the cup u could set it higher and in return it takes out this dark dry skimmate cause if not for its a very wet skim and turns into that light tea color as us cubans think of "Cafe Con Leche" hehe

Awesome photos. I like the tank, but the photos are so crisp. What camera are you using?

Thanks again, it is a Canon 350 XT Rebel with a 28-135mm or 100mm macro lens.

I had a feeling it wasn't a Powershot.

Your dog looks like he just did something he shouldn't have. I know that look.

Oops some of those were pictures of existing zoos. Oh well I'll get some new ones up tomorrow. I picked up about 15 different zoos and 5 sps pieces yesterday. I also added a cool red mushroom rock I had in my big tank that never opened up real well.

Well just a little update. I added a Pixie Hawkfish a while ago and it seems to be doing well. It isn't supposed to be as dangerous with small shrimp as some of the larger hawkfish. I also added 2 tiger shrimp and were waiting for a yasha (sp) gobie pair. And today we added a small flame angel and a purple firefish. All are doing well.

I also picked up a Aquatronica Controller from Matt here of Frag and hooked it up to the nano for now. I am waiting for my little clip on fan to help keep the temp swings a little more stable. I used my little top down box for some pictures and they turned out pretty good.

Do you have any issues with heat?

Excuse me, a newbie question....Isn't this a lot to add this fast? Is it because, you used things out of your existing tank? Has the tank completely cycled? I waited on pin and needles with my 55 gallon, to add things.

Xandernfs - Yes this light really warms up the water, I added a Clip on fan that kicks on after 81 degrees, and the Metal halide shuts off if the temp goes over 82.5
Boozerell - The tank has been up since September, I used water from my tank to help speed the cycle up as well as fully cured live rock from a local reefer who was breaking down his tank. It was almost 2 months before adding any livestock. I had a very small cycle 2-3 weeks at most. All the coral has been doing very well. I just need to glue all the zoos to the rocks because the pixie hawfish and one turbo snail like to knock things over daily.

I'm a huge fan!

I just picked up the same setup this past week and its still in the box. I have a question though, do you notice a huge increase of heat when the glass lid is on?

chetm2
12/29/2007, 07:47 PM
Chorethorious - yes big difference, add 5-7 degrees.

Big temp spike. I was thinking of hanging the light from the ceiling or possibly extending the pipe. Maybe just to get a good 6-8'' off the water. I know I'd have to do a support wire or something if I just extend the lamp upward, as that lamp is pretty heavy. But still, I need to just get the thing put together first.
