I usually follow the 1.5 lbs per gallon even though that it not set in stone. Sorry, couldn't resist the stone part.

i had about 20lbs. in my dx. get a nanotuners upgrade and add 24 or 28w pc and you'll be able to keep a lot more... did you replace the pump?

I have 18# of LR (fiji) on top of 20# of LS. Personally, for me, 18# (1.5#/gal) is just too much live rock (I would call it perfect in a FOWLR). As is, I don't have a place to put corals mounted on any rock over 3" without ruining the nooks/crannies that were intended to keep fish happy. I'll be pulling out about 8 pounds and throwing it into another tank.

So, I guess I would say 10#, depending on the size of each rock and where its from.

As much as you feel necessary.

Different rock has different density levels.

well the rule of thumb is 1 per gallon, but you can do more for show or rock stacking. up to you really. I got 23 in my 29 and the tanks doin' fine!

Also depends on the size and density of the Rock you use. They'll usually say in the description when you're ordering if it's dense, or more porous.
And you can fit more lbs of small rock in than large because the spaces between them will be less.

For example my 20 long is pretty full with just 18 lbs, but that's 3 large porous rocks. But in general, you'll be pretty close to the 1 to 1.5lb/gal rule.

I bought 12 pounds and couldn't fit it all. It really matters how dense the rock is. Plus a nano 12 only holds around 8 gal in the display portion.

I have about 22 pounds in my Nanocube 12.

I put it all in and aquascaped it to what i saw was fit, then took it out and weighed it all.

Then put it back in, and didn't get the same beautiful aquascape. I love how that works. :(
