I am in the process of collecting ideas for a 30g (or 37g) cube that I will be setting up.

Here is what I am thinking:

Tank: 30g Cceanic cube (20" x 18" x 21") or 37g Perfecto Column (20" x 18" x 25")

Refugium: CPR Hang-on Refugium (medium size: 19" x 4" x 12")

Heater: Stealth Visitherm 2 x 50w

Well...thats all I have planned so far!

I am looking to keep mostly zoanthids with some LPS and maybe a clam. No interest in SPS at this point.

Here is what I need suggestions on:

Lighting (150w MH vs 250w MH? Which fixture?)
Flow (I have had good luck with Koralias)

I have heard mixed reviews about the Current Sunpod. I would also be interested in a pendant to hang from the ceiling.

Price really isnt a factor in any of the design elements but functionality is.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Cletus...any pics?

Im going to cancel the idea of a sump. I want a self contained unit for a few reasons. Tank will be in the living room and I cant risk a flood. AND I want something that is silent.

Would the 150w MH be sufficient for a clam on the sand bed?

I was thinking more 250w for a clam on the sandbed.

I'm also in the process of setting up a 30 gallon Oceanic cube. Here's what I want:

Left is skimmer & heater compartment, center is return and right is fuge. Skimmer is a TUNZE 9002 DOC skimmer. Lighting is a Cadlights 150W MH w/ 24W T5. Water movement is a SCWD hooked up to the largest pump that can fit into the center compartment.

WOW

False back is a bit more involved than I want to get but go for it!

Im tying to keep it simple!!! :)

I would think 150 watt for the calm should be fine. 250 watt would also through off a lot of heat. what is the height of the tank?

30g = 21"
37g = 25"

I've kept multiple clams in my 30g Oceanic for over a year under 150w. Tempted to upgrade to 250w but that's mainly for my SPS.

This one has potential.

Here is what i would do....

Buy a Hang on fuge, inside that fuge, add your skimmer Tunze 9002, your heater, and if you want you can also buy a phosban reactor and hang it on the fuge as well, add a bag of chemipure elite and put it in the phosban reactor. You should have pretty much a 30G with sump kind off ;) on top of that all your equipment will be hidden from the main display. All you will see is the feeding pump for the fuge, and the drain from the fuge. Just make sure the fuge is deep enough to house the Tunze 9002 skimmer. This is the skimmer i am using in my 30G SPS tank and it works like a champ. :) use some koralias and if yo use the #4's buy the Seio controller and bam! you have wave action a fuge that is made into a sump in a way ;) and all you equipment nice and hidden.

I like the idea of the Tunze nano skimmer. It WILL fit in the medium CPR Aquafuge!
