ok i am about to start a new project to upgrade from my 30 to a 75 or a 90 with built in overflows and such. My main problems are i dont want to discard all my current equipment so im going to use as much of it as i can.

my curent stuff is a 150w mh
4x55w cf (will have to get new bulb can get any kind of bulbs)
mag24
mag7
mag5
55g sump

I have about a 3inch layer of sand in my 30g i know that i wont take all that sand but is it beneficial to take maybe the top 1/4-1/2 inch to get some of the "critters" to keep up on the new tank with?

my main questions are is that enuff lights( no sps just lower light corals)? i was thinking about putting the mh in the middle with the cf runing the lenght of that tank and just putting any higher light needy coral closer to the mh (until i can afford a big light upgrade)

and the pumps
was planning on using the mag7 as a return from sump. good?
using the mag 24 as a closed loop with exits on the 3 corners that are opposite the overflow.
then i have read that mags are not good as external and im a little curious?
should i try to sell the mag 24 and the mag5 and buy a good external for my closed loop?
is there any way to make this work with what i have?

i know that is a lot of crap to answer but any help is appreciated
any advice or ideas? my main goal is to have no pumps in the display at all just the overflow and a few outlet/inlet pipes
